European Union: statement on abolition of capital punishment

The European Union recently issued a statement condemning the execution of German-Iranian national Jamshid Sharmahd in Iran.

In this statement, the European Union continues to pursue a consistent policy towards the abolition of capital punishment and reaffirms its strong and unequivocal opposition to the use of the death penalty at all times, in all circumstances.
