Saudi Arabia executes Jordanian man after allegedly giving forced confession

Hussein Abu al-Khair, 57, father of eight children, was sentenced to death for drug offences after a trial that has been criticised by Amnesty International as being “grossly unfair”. His case has garnered international concern, as in November 2022 Saudi Arabia ended a moratorium on the use of the death penalty for drug offences, and within a fortnight, 17 men were executed on drug charges.
