The US Supreme Court’s shift to capital punishment

Since Donald Trump’s appointment of three new conservative justices, the Supreme Court’s default positions is to allow executions even in situations where there are serious constitutional issues at play. For death row prisoners, for whom the Supreme Court is the last hope for review, this presents a grim reality. This was starkly evident in the Court’s refusal to engage with a last petition of Robert Fratta, who was sentenced to death for the 1994 murder-for-hire of his wife. Read more here.
