Branson turns down Singapore’s invitation to debate the death penalty

Richard Branson has rejected an invitation from Singapore’s home affairs minister to debate the death penalty.

Branson has been campaigning for the abolition of the death penalty, and was highly vocal in condemning Singapore’s execution of Nagaenthran K Dharmalingam.

In rejecting Singapore’s invitation, Branson encouraged the government of Singapore to instead engage with local activists and lawyers who “deserve to be listened to, not ignored, or worse yet, harassed.”
