Saudi Arabia executes 81 men in one day in largest mass execution in decades

In the kingdom’s largest execution in decades, Saudi Arabia has executed 81 men, including seven Yemenis and one Syrian. The most recent mass execution was in 2021 when 67 executions were held.

Execution in Saudi Arabia is typically conducted by beheading and the kingdom has the fifth highest execution rate in the world.

This most recent mass execution is likely to turn the world’s attention once again to the country’s concerning human rights record.

There are currently a number of prisoners of conscience on death row in Saudi Arabia and others who have been arrested as children for non-violent crimes.
