South Carolina continue executions by firing squad

Mikal Mahdi is set to be executed by way of firing squad over lethal injection or electrocution.

A recent article has reported the graphic details surrounding the method of execution by firing squad which include but are not limited to

Mr Mahdi being secured to a chair, with straps around his waist, ankles and arms. The execution will involve three volunteers to hold rifles about 15 feet from Mr Mahdi.

The article reports that there have been witnesses for a previous execution by firing squad, which included that there was no warning or countdown and the abrupt crack of the rifles were startling.
