Kenyan man sues London police for role in wrongful conviction

Ali Kololo, a Kenyan man who has spent a decade on death row and was wrongly imprisoned for a 2011 murder, is suing the Metropolitan police over its role in the case.

Mr Kololo was imprisoned for more than a decade in appalling conditions and his trial had been structurally unfair as he did not have legal representation. Mr Kololo also had to cross-examine 20 witnesses, and further, was illiterate and did not have an interpreter for the proceedings as they were not conducted in his first language.
