Iranian rapper faces the death penalty

Toomaj Salehi, an Iranian rapper, has been sentenced to death for offences of ‘propaganda against the state’ and ‘corruption on earth’. He has actively spoken out against the Iranian government, primarily through his music.

There has been a 48% increase in the number of executions in Iran: a total of 853 in 2023 alone.
